Horses that bite

A picture of a horse bite. Bitting horses can be very dangerous. Trainer and author Wendy Smith tells how she retrains dangerous biting horses into non-biters in her book, No More Biting Horses.

It often surprises me (it really shouldn't since I have seen this happen many times) that people will go and ride their horse, that they keep at a boarding stable, only once a week or less and then wonder why the horse has "acted up" each time they ride. Horses need attention daily, they are not machines that can be turned of and on again. At least I am confident that I know the major reason that video trainers are making a killing with videos and TV shows - horse owners that want a quick fix for a problem that they themselves have caused, lack of attention to the horse in the first place. That said, this page is for info on training.

Do you often wonder how people trained horses 200 or more years ago.

I have discovered a wealth of informational links for you to explore. How did the ancient people train the Arabian horse and others.
